A nicely versatile unit. The big 3800 mA battery with USB charging is a plus (a note on the USB battery charger; the first “Smart Charger” mildly fried itself, a second one seems to work fine). The number of accessories is nice also. It works with an Easy Digi interface better than the Icom T70 as well as the BTECH digital interface. The narrow form factor fits into the side pockets on bib overalls or carpenter pants. When attached via the belt clip to the rear bicycle brake cable against the head tube, the 3800 mA battery has the mass to hold the radio stable when riding. The after market Nagoya 3-band antenna was handier here than the two rubber duckies. It is now replaced by the Diamond 3-band antenna which subjectively seems to work a bit better and is not quite as long. Hoping info useful. 73, KI7MBR

This triband radio is great! The manual was very good for a new operator and although the 1.25m is not as popular it is also less intimidating for local simplex practice. As soon as the tri-band mobile/base is back in stock (Amazon) I will be getting one of those to complete my “learning” rig. These radios are fit for purpose and are priced at a point that lets someone get into the hobby. I put off HAM most of my life for two reasons (didn’t want to learn CW, which that was finally removed from the test) and the “startup” cost. I know it is a price point issue but wish the firmware was upgradable, however very happy with the performance and ease of use. Like mentioned, scan add is awesome.

Easy setup with chirp. Fits my casual use well, al1 three bands come in well. I can hit local repeaters about 30 miles away. I did buy a diamond triband antenna for it, convenience of not switching antennas. I take this camping, I just enjoy downloading local stations before we go camping and listen to local nets.

Very clear reception. Strong transmit signal for 5 Watts. I did add a UHF, VHF, 220 Hz Nagoya NA-320A antenna for walking and convenience while hiking or biking.
