A High Power 50 Watt GMRS Mobile Radio from BTECH is Released

BTECH announced today the North American release of the BTECH GMRS-50X1. The GMRS-50X1 follows in similar footsteps and abilities found in our handheld GMRS radio the BTECH GMRS-V1.

There was a huge void for users in that, an affordable fully functional GMRS mobile radio has never been available. BTECH took the initiative to engineer that very radio with feedback from the GMRS community. Our mission was to have the simplest  GMRS mobile radio that can easily be used on all GMRS mobile radio channels, while being able to add features not seen on any GMRS radio before! With our team of engineers and designers, along with our BETA users throughout the GMRS community – we were able to accomplish it AND we are able to provide it all while costing less than any other high powered GMRS mobile radio!

More than just a GMRS Mobile Radio

The GMRS-50X1 is a 50 Watt GMRS mobile radio compatible with all brands of FRS and GMRS radios. It is also compatible with GMRS repeaters. Channels are wideband and narrowband compatible. The GMRS-50X1 is also a VHF and UHF scanning receiver capable of adding additional channels for receive only (such as NOAA weather and other channels of interest).

Three Power Levels: Depending on the channel used; you can select from High (50W), Mid (20W), and Low (5W) power settings.

The GMRS-50X1 is compatible with all CTCSS (PL Tone) and DCS (DPL Tones) privacy tones from any other brand of walkie talkies. You can easily scan and select the tone needed to transmit and filter to hear only the conversations you want to hear!

Another innovation, borrowed from our X-Series line, is using ‘Quad Watch’: The GMRS-50X1 operates as multiple radios in one, with a channel selected as the primary channel; while simultaneously watching up to 3 other frequencies or channels. You can simplify the radio to only watch one or two channels as well. The GMRS-50X1 includes dual sync display which allows for displaying both a channel’s name and frequency simultaneously.

We understand the importance of being able to program the radios on the fly. The BTECH mobile radios allow full programmability from tones, bandwidth, settings, and the channel name all without a PC. If you want to go in-depth modifying the radio – PC programmability is still available, allowing advanced tone setting modifications and easy scanner channel imports using CHIRP.

The GMRS-50X1 it also has a standard mono 3.5mm audio out jack to allow easy use with your favorite audio environment.

Channel List Overview

GMRS channels are setup in the standardized FRS/GMRS flow. Channels 1-22 are non-repeater channels coordinating with the GMRS channel list and channels 23-30 are GMRS repeater channels.

**Per FCC GMRS Mobile Radio Guidelines Channels 8-14 transmitting is disabled; they can receive and monitor communications, but GMRS mobile radios cannot transmit on these channels.

BaoFeng Tech announced today the release of the BTECH UV-5X3 (https://baofengtech.com/uv-5×3). The UV-5X3 is more than just a “UV-5R with a third-band added”; the UV-5X3 is a full overhaul to the world’s favorite amateur radio – the BaoFeng UV-5R.

Our Most Customizable Handheld Radio

First and foremost, the UV-5X3 was built by adding filtering and support for the 220MHz Amateur band. The original UV-5R was a 4-watt dual-band radio; while the UV-5X3 can now output 5-watts on VHF and 4-watts on both 1.25M and UHF. The UV-5X3 focused specifically on the amateur band frequencies of the 1.25M band during design. The UV-5X3 supports: 65-108MHz (RX only – FM Radio), 130-179.99MHz (RX/TX), 222-227.99MHz (RX/TX), and 400-520.99MHz (RX/TX)

Simplified Scanning

We also simplified scanning on the UV-5X3. We listened to our users that frequently customize their scanning lists and our users that want to have more flexibility to scanning on-the-fly. The UV-5X3 made changes to both frequency and channel scanning. In channel mode, the UV-5X3 adds a new menu option to easily add or remove any channel from the scanning list; while in frequency mode the UV-5X3 allows you to enter in a specific frequency range to scan. You no longer have to edit the VFO range through a computer or are forced to scan the whole band when you only what to scan a small portion the band.

Sync Display

Due to popular demand, we have also brought over the synchronized display mode from our BTECH mobiles. You can now display the channel name and frequency of a single channel on both displays. This simplifies the operation for those who prefer to monitor a single channel. It also allows you to have the most information available by displaying both a channel’s name and its frequency without any toggle. The synchronized display mode also works during scanning too, and can be turned on or off with a menu option at any time.

DTMF Remote Commands

The UV-5X3 can respond to remote commands. By remotely sending DTMF tones you can both ‘Stun’ (Transmit Disable) or ‘Kill’ (Disables all functions) the UV-5X3. You also can ‘Revive’ a UV-5X3 from its “stunned” or “killed” state. You can also remotely turn on the microphone through ‘Monitor’; or ensure the radio is within range by using ‘Inspect’ (replies with a confirmation tone when it is within range).

ANI Updated

Along with being able to previously send ANI (DTMF Identification); You can now enable “Decoding” the incoming ANI (DTMF) tones right on your display.

The First Handheld Radio to be Solely Programmable through CHIRP Software

The UV-5X3 is completely programmable using CHIRP. This means for the hundreds of radios already supported through CHIRP – you can easily import your radio data from your previous handheld or mobile radio right into the UV-5X3, which makes it that much easier to program. What also makes CHIRP support unique on the UV-5X3, is that CHIRP is the sole software option for the UV-5X3 on a ‘Day One’ release.

A Full Duplex 50 Watt Tri-Band Radio from BTECH is Released

BaoFeng Tech announced today the release of the BTECH UV-50X3 (https://baofengtech.com/uv-50×3), the first available full duplex, tri-band radio with an extended receiver range. The UV-50X3 combines some of the most requested features into one complete radio making it the perfect radio for both base and mobile users alike.

The UV-50X3 was subjected to some of the harshest environments during its evolution – including sub-zero temperatures and the extreme heat exceeding 130 degrees. In both extreme environments it was put through thorough QSOs to ensure that it would not fail when communication matters most.

The UV-50X3 has a wide-band receiver capable of receiving AM radio, FM radio, AM Air-Traffic reception, and more (see product specifications). It also has our first built in VHF-UHF cross-band repeater included which allows you to easily connect or extend other repeaters, mobiles, or handheld radios. The First Tri-Band Amateur Radio from BTECH is Released

BaoFeng Tech announced today the North American release of the BTECH UV-2501+220 (https://baofengtech.com/uv-2501+220). Our first tri-band radio (2M, 1.25M, 70cm) combines the best in power, portability, and usability – all in a small, mini-mobile form factor.

There was a huge void for users, in that; an affordable tri-band amateur radio has never been available. BTECH took the initiative to engineer that very radio for which amateurs had been asking. Our mission was to have the ability for a single radio to communicate on 2M, 1.25M, and 70cm and cost less than what other single band mobiles sell; and we were able to accomplish it with our dedicated team of engineers and designers, along with our BETA users throughout the amateur community.

More than just a Tri-Band

The UV-2501+220 is more than just a tri-band radio to us. We set out to also improve our full mobile radio line. By working with our own engineer and through our manufacturer, we were able to identify and fix the engineering, PCB, and firmware to ultimately improve the end-user experience that had been previously available.

We were able to implement several improvements with the amateur radio operator in mind, such as, the importance of using the least amount of power necessary to hit your repeater. The UV-2501+220 allows for easy transmit power toggling on hard loaded channels (in channel mode) through the keypad.

Another innovation is the ability to remember the finer details of your channels. The UV-2501+220 includes our new display sync mode. When activated, the display sync will keep both display A and display B synced during channel scrolling. The ability to simultaneously see both the name and frequency of a channel is an invaluable feature to keeping everything at your fingers.

We understand the importance of being able to program the radios on the fly. The BTECH mobile radios allow full programmability from tones, frequencies, settings, and the channel name all without a PC. If you want to go in-depth modifying the radio – PC programmability is still available, allowing advanced tone setting modification and even squelch level settings to be altered.

Building on the UV-2501, the UV-2501+220 includes a fan which allows for mounting in even tighter locations. Even though the UV-2501+220 has a loud 2-watt speaker, much like the UV-5001, it also has a standard 3.5mm audio out jack to allow easy use with your favorite audio environment.
