It out performed my BTech v1 GMRS. In range and signal quality. The only other radio I had to test it against was a Wouxun KG805G 5watt radio . No one during the test could tell a lot of difference between the two. I know that the BF-F8HP is not a GMRS radio. The GMRS radios all I had to compare to the F8HP . Thing is it’s a good radio and for they money it’s the most versatile radio I have to date . Eventually I’m going to have several of these . My other radios will be loaner radios.

I don’t have a programming cable or computer. With that said it was easy to manually program in the frequencies that I need . I also don’t have a way to check if it really puts out 8watts of power on High.
Although I already know I use it in UHF mostly so the out put wattage is more like 5-6 watts . I did try the BF-F8HP on high in VFH and it definitely out performed the VHF radios that I put it against on high. My plan is to add a couple of the high capacity batteries. I also plan on buying another BF-F8HP and a AMP from BTech the U25 . That way I can have a decent portable base station . Also one thing I for got to mention is that having the BF-F8HP hooked to my base antenna really made it reach out. No AMP or no other mods.
On high power and on a UHF station I got 7 miles more then the radio I had hooked up. So my conclusion is I want another F-8HP and I will soon be buying a U-25 AMP from BTech

I’ve had it for a few months. I probably use it once a week when I am away from my shack

You might have meant to review the GMRS-V1 not the MURS-V1 as the MURS-V1 is only compatible with MURS radios

The battery is awesome and can last a few days, I got the extended one on AMZ for when SHTF. Great it can work with my other GMRS radios…

Easy to use and program. I did upgrade the antenna to the NA701C which greatly improved transmission and receive capabilities. I do own the NA771 that this website recommends to purchase with the radio and doing comparison I would highly recommend going with the NA701C. The NA771 would be a better choice if you were doing 2m and 70cm.
